In 2015 at 19 she released her debut single, Here. The song was an instant smash and garnered praise from both listeners and critics alike. The single peaked at 19th on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the song one of their Top Songs in 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was the first of five tracks that made it to the top charts on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. Based on an interview she did in conjunction with Rap Up, the track had lots in the minds of many people who listened to her story about finding acceptance and appreciation for your self. Cara's music often contains positive messages regarding mental wellness and the importance of being self-love. The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has been battling mental health issues and insomnia. In an Reuters interview, she described her album as half tumultuous and half well-crafted. She found that therapy helped her grow and urges others to do the same. Alessia Cara is a Canadian singer who was born on the 11th of July, 1996 to parents from Italian descent. Alessia Cara's parents bought her her first guitar when she was 10. It was the beginning of her journey in music. She began to cover the songs she loved at 13, to prove to everyone that she had the skills and the determination required to be a singer. Sweater Weather is among those covers that led to being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label allowed her create new songs of her own.
