Cara incorporates messages about love and kindness throughout her songs. The inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle to conquer mental health issues as well as insomnia. Reuters said that she described her album "half chaotic, but half done". The growth of her career was helped by a therapy. She encourages others when they need to ask for assistance. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. Her birth date was July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian origins. When she was just 10 years old her parents gave her a guitar that became the foundation of her musical passion. At 13 years old, she began performing her favourite songs through YouTube a major media platform to show the world that she had the talents and the determination to be a singer. Sweater Weather was her most popular album. A record label, EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her write songs.
