At 19 years old, she released her debut single Here. The song received praise both by music critics as well as listeners. She released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five tracks that made it to the top charts on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track is special because, based on her interview with Rap-Up that she conducted, many of the listeners could connect to her experiences of learning to love themselves and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara's music is known to include messages of kindness self-love, self-love and mental wellness. She has been struggling with anxiety and insomnia, both of which affected her life. In a Reuters' interview, she has described her album as half-tumultuous but half perfected. The growth of her career was helped by therapy. She encourages others who need help to seek support. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. When she was just 10 years old, her parents bought her a guitar which became the beginning of her love for music. At the age of 13 she started covering her most loved songs through YouTube an important media platform to show the world that she had the talents and courage to become a professional singer. A cover of one of her songs, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and record her own tracks.
