According to an Reuters interview, her album was described as half tumultuous half perfected. The singer says that she discovered her development in therapy. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born July 11, 1996, to parents of Italian origins. Her parents gifted her with an instrument when she was 10 and this brought her to music. At the age of 13, she started covering songs she liked on YouTube in order to show the public that she had talent and had the courage to make a profession of an artist. One of her tracks, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and compose her own music.
